Personal Statement
I am an Associate Professor and a student focused professional with 23 years of practical experience in helping students to learn and achieve academic excellence. I believe I have over the years gained experience in teaching skills and acquired excellent knowledge of the subjects I teach, such as Human Resource Management, Collective Bargaining & Dispute Settlement, Labour Law & Public Policy, Labour Market Analysis, Globalization, State & Industrial Relations, Employment & Gender Discrimination, Social Dialogue, Trade Unions & Employment Associations, Man & Work Environment, Advanced Labour and Occupational Safety and Health Inspection, Social Protection, Advanced Comparative International Labour Law.. My teaching style has enabled my students to understand how to connect and apply theories and classroom knowledge to solve real world problems either as employees or entrepreneurs. My current areas of research are human resource management, employment relations and labour and employment law. I was privileged to get the Fulbright Scholarship in 2005 to research into the problems I had identified concerning the lack of regulation of casual employment in Nigeria. I carried out my research under the tutelage of the world-renowned labour law expert Prof. Matthew Finkin at the College of Law, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This experience helped to sharpen my research and teaching skills and I was able to use it to my benefit and those of my students. I have also learnt the importance of collaboration with colleagues; therefore, I have been able to collaborate with my colleagues in the areas of employment relations, human resource management and labour law, to identify problems and carry out research to solve these problems by proffering solutions.
