Prior to joining the University, Professor Otusanya worked in the private sector as an Accounting Officer at a printing company in Lagos. He joined the Department of Accounting in November 1998 as a Lecturer II, having earlier served in the same department during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year. Over the course of his career at the University, he has served in several capacities, including Faculty Examination Officer and member of the Faculty Appointment and Promotion Committee and the Faculty Research Committee. Between 2002 and 2005, he served as Internal Auditor and Treasurer of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), UNILAG Chapter, and was at one time a member of the Ogun State Health Management Board. He has produced numerous academic papers and monographs, and has presented at international accounting conferences across Europe, America, and Canada.
